UK: Kettle Sweet Potato Chips withdrawn due to labeling error.

Kettle Foods Ltd has withdrawn some packs of its Oven Baked Sweet Potato Chips Sweet Chilli because they contain wheat (gluten).

Wheat is labelled in the ingredients list, however the product labeling also states 'no gluten-containing ingredients'.

This makes the product a possible health risk for anyone who has an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten.

This product contains wheat (gluten), making it a possible health risk for anyone who is allergic or has an intolerance to wheat or gluten.

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store where you bought it. Kettle Foods Ltd. has withdrawn the product from sale and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the withdrawal.

The Grocer states that the stock was being recalled from trade and was not being recalled from the consumer.

"The packaging is being reprinted and we anticipate the product being back on sale within a few days" a Kettle Foods Ltd spokesman is cited.
