DSM Nutritional Products has opened a Nutrition Innovation Center for Asia Pacific as part of DSM’s new S$8.8 million premises at Mapletree Business City, further strengthening Singapore’s thriving nutrition science and technology ecosystem.
The grand opening event, ‘The Future of Nutrition: Co-creation, Innovation, Sustainability’ took place on 25-26th March 2015 featuring Paul Gilding, the former global Chief Executive Officer of Greenpeace, as the keynote speaker. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. Stefan Doboczky, member of the Managing Board of Royal DSM, H. E. Jacques Werner, Ambassador of the Netherlands in Singapore, and Dr. Beh Swan Gin, Chairman of Singapore’s Economic Development Board. Fully integrated into a cross-functional 40,000 sq ft complex, the purpose-built facility brings together the company’s full range of marketing and technical capabilities under one roof to provide end-to-end value chain support for the region’s customers, through an unparalleled repertoire and speed of services. It provides an inspirational environment designed to foster creativity in the development of innovative and appealing food, beverage and dietary supplement products.
Dr. Stefan Doboczky, member of the Managing Board of Royal DSM said: “This investment is of high strategic relevance for DSM and fully aligned with our corporate strategy. It underpins our commitment to innovation and the region Asia Pacific, both are key pillars in our goal to drive organic growth.”
“The Singapore Government is committed to supporting companies’ innovation and R&D activities,” says Dr Beh Swan Gin, Chairman of The Singapore Economic Development Board, who attended the opening event. “DSM’s Regional Nutrition innovation Centre bolsters Singapore’s position as the choice location in Asia where consumer packaged goods companies can create and grow global products and brands.”
The Nutrition Innovation Center is an integral part of an expanded DSM Singapore office, alongside similar facilities located in China, Brazil, Switzerland and the United States. By extending its global network of innovation expertise, the new center anchors DSM’s status as the world’s premier nutrition solutions provider while enhancing its ability to address the needs of its regional customers, wherever they may be.
A key component of the Innovation Center is a customer brand-centric “Co-Creation Hub”, which will aid innovation and acceleration of new products and brands to market. In partnership with the Healthy Marketing Team, international experts in consumer marketing, the Co-Creation Hub will deliver added value to DSM’s regional customers in nutrition marketing and branding.
Central to the Co-Creation hub is the “FourFactors® of Success” brand acceleration system, a unique best-practice model developed by the Healthy Marketing Team which enables engagement with customers in a comprehensive product design process. The combined approach spans trends analysis, opportunity scoping, idea generation, scientific evaluation, product design, technical development, proof of concept and execution, all in a single center of excellence at the DSM location.
Pieter Nuboer, Vice President of Human Nutrition and Health at DSM Nutritional Products Asia Pacific said: “The new Nutrition Innovation Center here in Asia Pacific enables us to expand and leverage DSM’s global network of innovation support through key regional hubs. It brings together leading minds from DSM, the Healthy Marketing Team and top human nutrition and health professionals who will create and develop new products and concepts that meet the demand of our customers in the region. The Center demonstrates DSM’s commitment to being the partner of choice in Human Nutrition”.
