Andalusian early potatoes promoted in Spanish supermarkets
Junio 08, 2011
After several months of consumption of stored potatoes, it is time for new potatoes, the early potato, with all the flavor and freshness, because they are newly harvested.

Under the slogan "A seasonal flavor"Amdalusian Early potatoes are promoted in the main hypermarkets and supermarkets in Spain, from the first week of June untill the end of July.

Currently new Andalusian potatoes can be purchased in Carrefour, El Corte Ingles Supermarkets, Hipercor, Supercor and Aldi supermarkets. More channels will be added in the coming days.

Because of the success among consumers of the last promotional campaign, the second edition is going to provide information about nutritional value and taste of the early potato opposite to preserved potato, with lower levels of freshness, quality and taste.

This campaign has received support from the Regional Govern of Andalusia.

Like other seasonal fruits and vegetables like oranges, watermelon, melon or strawberry, it must be known that the potato also has its peak freshness and flavor.

This period starts at April with the early Andalusian potato, the first one of the year. The mark Andalusian Early Potato guarantees its early character, properties of maximum freshness and flavor, and origin of the fields of Andalusia.

Also, the association of producers considers it essential to increase awareness of the benefits of consuming local products in order to promote environmental sustainability (thanks to a smaller footprint than potatoes imported) and to support the local economy.
