India plans for massive campaign to attract US$ 20bn foreign investment in the food industry
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, is planning massive campaign through Indian Embassies in the foreign countries to attract investment of US$ 20 billion in the food processing industries in the country.
According to Ministry official, the Government is now under the process of preparing a plan for the campaign which will soon to be published through Indian Embassies.
The official also said that due to India’s diverse agro-climatic conditions, had a considerable surplus of plethora of agricultural produce. As we lack adequate processing infrastructure and facilities, a huge quantity of perishables get wasted along the supply chain. Best processing technologies available abroad are required to be brought in. India is a treasure of raw materials. It can be used as a processing hub and tap the benefit of a growing market by the developed economies like France, Germany, US and Australia.
