The Indian State Gujarat ranks 4^th in the country with respect to potato production.

The five year average potato production in Gujarat (2012-2016) was 3,015,680 tonnes, accounting for 6.64 percent of the overall potato production in India in this period.

Gujarat has a relatively strong focus on potato processing, with processing factories of McCain Foods (India) Pvt Ltd (french fries), Balaji Wafers (chips and snacks), Iscon Balaji Foods (dehydrated potato products) and several others (Check the "Companies" section at the top).

As a result of increased demand from the Potato Proccessing Companies, potato cultivation in Gujarat experiences significant growth: by season 2017 (2017-2018) potato production was up to almost 8 percent of India.
