ConAgra Foods, one of the world's largest packaged foods companies, is changing its environmental programs from compliance-driven to proactive sustainability initiatives.

With manufacturing facilities around the globe, ConAgra has implemented an integrated environmental management system that is centrally managed at the corporate level and executed locally by cross-functional managers at each plant. One of the key players in ConAgra's sustainability efforts is Gail Tavill, vp of sustainable development research, quality and innovation. Packaging Digest recently met with Tavill to discuss how the company is achieving its goals.
