On 6, 7 and 8 November 2024, the annual variety shows were organised by various potato trading houses from Emmeloord and the surrounding area. The team of The Potato Company B.V. (TPC) looks back on very successful days.

PotatoEurope is an international event exclusively dedicated to the entire value chain of potatoes: from Farm to Fork! The event takes place each year in one of the event’s four partner countries: the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France.

The 2024 growing season – with the main harvest not yet done – was a difficult, stressful, risky and expensive one for potato growers across the NEPG in North-west Europe. New challenges appear as climate change takes its toll.

As of today, potato breeder Royal HZPC Group welcomes Hans Huistra as its new CEO. Colleagues from all of Royal HZPC Group's global locations (HZPC, STET and ZOS) had the opportunity to gain a first impression of Hans Huistra in a broadcasted meeting.

Gerard Backx, CEO of the Royal HZPC Group, says there is an imbalance in the Dutch seed potato market. He expects less volume of these potatoes to be available this season. Although there is a good tuber count in many areas, and the harvest should be successful, the wet summer significantly damaged some areas.

Deze week komen de eerste aardappelen binnen voor de aardappelcampagne van Royal Avebe. De komende maanden worden de aardappelen zes dagen per week bij de fabrieken aangeleverd, waar ze verwerkt worden tot aardappelzetmeel en aardappeleiwit.

Met een aantal van ruim 4.000 bezoekers kijkt de organisatie van Aardappeldemodag tevreden terug op de geheel vernieuwde editie van hét kennis-en ontmoetingsevent voor de Nederlandse aardappelsector.
