Quantum Leap in Capacity: Iscon Balaji Eyes Growing French Fries Demand

Buoyed by the growing demand of French Fries from consumers all over the world, food processor Iscon Balaji Foods Pvt Ltd from India has undertaken a quantum leap in capacity expansion.

IBF’s consolidated capacity to process French Fries and specialty potato variants stand up to 200,000 MTPA, by far largest in the sub-continent.

Phase I: The beginning of french fries

Around the middle of the last decade, when French Fries began dominating the frozen potato market share globally, Iscon Balaji Foods Pvt Ltd forayed into French Fries and specialty products processing.

In 2016, IBF set up its first frozen French Fries and specialty potato processing plant with capacity up to 12,000 MTPA.

Using the best-in-class Dutch potatoes, IBF broadened its portfolio of fries with multiple ranges – from 6 by 6 mm to 11 by 11 mm.

Iscon Balaji Foods Pvt Ltd quickly garnered substantial market share in the domestic HoReCa market, and commenced export to over 200 customers across 20 countries.

Phase II: Three-Fold Jump

Growing acceptance of its fries among international and domestic customers made IBF undertake capacity expansion in 2020. IBF grew its capacities three-fold, taking it up to 36,000 MTPA in 2020.

Phase III: The Quantum Leap

Manoeuvring itself to an altogether new growth trajectory in 2023, IBF set up the largest French Fries factory in the sub-continent.

The near five-fold capacity expansion in 2022-23 has been fuelled by the overwhelming consumption of French Fries, expected to register near 5% CAGR till the end of this decade.

Today, with a consolidated capacity to process up to 200,000 MTPA French Fries and specialty potato products, IBF is the torchbearer of the food processing landscape of the region, making Make In India products for global customers.
