One of GRIMME UK's product specialists has taken on the chairmanship of the Agricultural Engineers Association's (AEA) Technical Committee. Ed Hodson, who has worked for GRIMME UK for almost ten years and is the company's Potato Product Specialist, assumed the role when Duncan Wilson's (Teagle) tenure ended last month.

The AEA was established in 1875 to promote the technical, trade, and commercial interests of British manufacturers and suppliers of agricultural machinery. The association's Technical Committee is primarily a forum in which to share information and discuss issues relating to legislation and standard.

During his two-year tenure, Mr. Hodson is keen to increase member participation in the committee, encourage more member companies to host meetings, and also showcase their businesses.

Grimme has been a member of the AEA for several years with Ed representing the company at meetings since 2019. Ed also represents Grimme UK on the Farm Equipment Council which looks at wider industry issues such as training, safety, commodity pricing, market data, and agricultural trends.

Ed Hodson Product Manager for Grimme UK Ltd:

"I would like to thank Duncan for his efforts during his two years as Chairman of the AEA's Technical Committee."

"Getting involved in the AEA and the Technical Committee has increased my knowledge and awareness of the issues facing businesses in the sector and given me a fantastic insight into how many companies and engineers are approaching problem-solving."

"I am looking forward to chairing the committee for the next two years and would like to encourage new members to join the association and contribute to our meetings."
Mr. Hodson joined Grimme UK in 2012 and has worked in a technical sales role for vegetable and irrigation equipment and also as a Sales Operations Manager. For the past two years, he has been the company's potato equipment specialist.

His role encompasses supporting the sales team with product knowledge and technical detail as well as working with growers, processors, and packers on strategic projects such as refining processes or cost reduction.

He was involved in implementing the first potato production system in the UK on a 6m controlled traffic farming system and is currently looking at how Regenerative Agriculture can be successfully implemented into root crop production.
