Potato prices to remain firm in coming months in West Bengal

Junio 21, 2012
Potato prices are expected to remain firm for the next few months in West Bengal. Prices have gone up by almost 34% for regular variety of potato over the last few months.
"Production of potato had been less in Uttar Pradesh and Bengal in last Rabi period. And now reports are coming that potato cultivation in southern parts of the country like Hubli, Hassan, Belgaum have been affected due to absence of rain. Potato in this region is cultivated between the period May 15 - June 25. This is likely to push up prices further,"said Mr Patit Paban De, member of West Bengal Cold Storage Association.
