Starch manufacturers Lyckeby and Emsland Group Announce Joint Venture SOLAM GmbH

Starch manufacturers Lyckeby and Emsland Group have announced an agreement to form a joint venture, named SOLAM GmbH. The joint venture will specialize in the development and marketing of starches for paper and corrugated board. SOLAM will be based in Hamburg, Germany and formally start operations on September 1

“With this co-operation both partners prepare themselves for the CAP - Health Check and the dynamics in the paper and corrugated board market segments” said Michael Schonert currently Managing Director at Emsland Group. Hans Berggren, currently CEO at Lyckeby commented, “With focus on commodities SOLAM will benefit from the synergies both partners create in sales, logistics and R&D and strengthen its efforts to realize innovations in specific applications such as coating, tissue paper and high cationic starches.“

Managing Director at SOLAM will be Bo Joensson who holds currently the position of Manager Marketing &Sales Paper within the Emsland Group. Tomas Hansson, currently Sales &Marketing Manager at Lyckeby Industrial, will occupy the position of Sales &Marketing Director.

Priority for SOLAM will be broadening and growth of its raw material portfolio with wheat - and corn starches.
