Haverhill peanut factory (Intersnack) is expanding

Diciembre 23, 2010

The Percy Dalton's peanut factory in Haverhill has increased its workforce over the past three weeks and plans to invest a further £2 million in expansion plans.

Robert Hancox, operations manager, said: “We have been very busy over the past year, and this is the time when everyone is putting peanuts and cashews on their coffee tables.

“We have just spent close to £500,000 on a new line for one of the major retailers in the UK and we are looking to invest another £2 million over the course of the next 12 months, which we plan to plough into Haverhill to make it a centre of excellence.”

“The businesses that are investing are here for the long haul. We will ride the storm and find ways through, particularly when the situation is quite volatile.

The company produces around 10,000 tons of nuts a  year from its “state of the art” factory  in Haverhill.

Last year, it was taken over by the Intersnack group and since then it production has almost doubled from around 50,000 cases a week to close to 90,000.

Mr Hancox said: “Since we became part of Intersnack we are looking to invest in Haverhill, and we have brought a new line here which will increase our capacity.”
