EU delays decision on licensing to grow new biotech crops

The European Commission has delayed decisions on licensing the cultivation of three biotech crops.
This raises new doubts about whether the EU will live up to promises to open its market to genetically modified foods.
EU officials say the two corn and one potato crops that had been up for a decision on Wednesday are being sent back for another round of scientific reviews by the EU's food safety agency in Parma, Italy.
