Checking the chips at Utz

Marzo 25, 2008

About 16,000 pounds of potato chips per hour rolling off the lines is a hefty amount.

That's what Utz Quality Foods produces on average at its High Street plant in Hanover, said Vice President of Manufacturing Paul Schaum. With that many chips, not to mention pretzels, cheese puffs and more produced at all four Hanover plants, there's a team of people who make sure everything tastes the way it should.

"A lot of pride goes into our products,"Schaum said.

People from Maine to the Carolinas know Hanover, in part, by the potato chips they eat, giving extra pressure to tasters and lab technicians to make sure chips are consistently flavored.
