SkinnyPop Popcorn LLC recently announced that it has acquired the Paqui brand of “better-for-you” tortilla chips and tortillas and that Paqui will immediately become a sibling brand to SkinnyPop in the better-for-you family of snack food brands.
Paqui (pronounced “pah-kee”) is an Aztec word that means “to be happy.” Paqui sells great tasting tortillas and tortilla chips that are crafted with unbleached, untreated flour, or by stone grinding corn and adding mouth-watering flavors using high-quality ingredients, such as fire-roasted jalapenos, fresh cilantro leaves, buttermilk, pumpkin and other spices and flavors. Paqui brand tortillas and tortilla chips are currently sold regionally in Kroger and Whole Foods.
Tom Ennis, President and Chief Executive Officer of SkinnyPop:
“We are thrilled to welcome the Paqui brand to the better-for-you family of snack food brands,”
“Paqui brand tortilla chips are some of the best chips I’ve ever tasted, and we are excited about using the SkinnyPop platform to help introduce the Paqui brand to more consumers around the country.”
Doug Lyon, Founder of Paqui:
“At Paqui, we have always been committed to making tortilla chips and tortillas that not only taste great, but that are better-for-you as well.”
“Tom and his team at SkinnyPop have the same mission and we are excited to join this family of better-for-you snack food brands.”
Mr. Lyon joins SkinnyPop as Vice President of Creative and Innovation, effective immediately.
