Sweet potato starch plant planned in Kenya

A Kenyan investor based in the US wants to construct an ultra-modern sweet potato processing factory in Homa Bay. Consolata Bryant met Governor Cyprian Awiti yesterday and agreed to work with the county government to build the factory.

Bryant said his company, Organi Ltd, will put up the plant in either Homa Bay or Oyugis. She said farmers will be encouraged to use modern technology in cultivating. "We will use technology to extract industrial starch from the crop."
