The provincial and federal governments are investing a total of CAD 342,000 to help Covered Bridge Potato Chip Co. Inc. upgrade its facility and modernize equipment to increase its production capacity.

"Investing in Covered Bridge Potato Chip's newly expanded facilities will allow this forward-thinking family business to improve productivity and grow,"said Premier David Alward.

The provincial government is investing CAD 125,000 in the project.

"Our government's top priorities are jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for Canadians,"said Tobique-Mactaquac MP Mike Allen. "Our investment in Covered Bridge Potato Chip will allow the company to increase its production capabilities, enhancing the plant's productivity and strengthening the company's competitiveness as a manufacturer in New Brunswick."

Allen was appearing on behalf of Bernard Valourt, minister of state for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and La Francophonie.

The federal government, through ACOA's Business Development Program, is investing CAD 217,500.

"We at Covered Bridge Chips are very excited about this next phase at our company and are pleased to have it supported by the government,"said Ryan Albright, company president. "This project allows us to improve our food safety, increase efficiencies, warehousing and production;while maintaining and creating jobs for the people of this region."

The company is investing CAD 307,500.

The facility produces gourmet kettle chips for distribution to grocery and convenience stores in Canada and the United States. It also serves as an agri-tourism destination, complementing other area destinations, such as the New Brunswick Potato Museum and the Hartland Covered Bridge. Visitors are able to watch the production process, purchase kettle chips and other New Brunswick-made products on site.
