Starch group AVEBE has completed the upgrade of a production line at its production site in Ter Apelkanaal in the Netherlands.
The investment, involving a sum of 10 million euros, forms part of an ongoing investment programme. The company is also currently building a new central control room and a new food starch plant.
Site manager Jos van Wilsum: “This way AVEBE is taking the next step towards the period following the abolition of European farming subsidies in 2012. We are setting out to sell starch applications with substantial added value for customers. The production line, which is suitable for the growing food starch business of AVEBE, will help with that."
AVEBE is striving to maintain the competitiveness of starch potato cultivation beyond 2012 and to be able to pay a good price for the potatoes. The policy remains – as ever – focused on lowering the cost price, added value through innovations and to fit the procurement volumes of starch potatoes to the market demand.
