Howard Culberson & Sons of Jacksonville was named the 2009 McCain Champion Potato Grower for Florenceville during the annual McCain Growers' Banquet held at the Northern Carleton Civic Centre.

Howard Culberson & Sons of Jacksonville was named the 2009 McCain Champion Potato Grower for Florenceville during the annual McCain Growers' Banquet held at the Northern Carleton Civic Centre.
Potatoes are rated throughout the year on a variety of factors including size, gravity, defect level and colour and awarded points accordingly. At the end of each crop year, the top 10 growers are determined based on their overall scores.
Allison McCain, chairman of McCain Foods Limited, and Fred Schaeffer, president and CEO of McCain Foods (Canada) were on hand to extend personal congratulations to Howard Culberson & Sons and all of the McCain growers.
The others growers who qualified for the top 10 roster, in order of final standing, were: Eugene Antworth Ltd. (Eugene Antworth - Knoxford), Greenfield Farms Ltd. (Brothers Darrell and Rodney Greene - Greenfield), Anderson Farms (Brent Anderson and son Ryan - Piercemont), Killoween Farms (Kornelis Bakker - Killoween), Kilpatrick Farms Ltd. (Brian Kilpatrick with son Jared - Greenfield), Sterling Lamoreau & Sons Ltd. (Sterling Lamoreau with sons Greg and Steven - East Centreville), Hillview Farms (James Banks with brother-in-law John Brown and brother Karl - Florenceville), R.H. McLean Farms Inc. (Randy McLean with son Jason - Bedell) and A.W. Reid (Ward Reid with son Andrew - Knoxford).
Each received a plaque and a $1,000 cheque.
