PepsiCo has had its 27th facilitity awarded LEED certification by the US Green Building Council.

The latest Pepsico building to win green credentials is its Frito-Lay manufacturing facility in Azov, Russia.

The facility in Russia has sustainable water features and has achieved a 100% reduction in potable water use for landscape irrigation and estimates future water savings of 40% for installed plumbing features.

The construction is expected to have 18% energy savings through high performance electric lighting, and temperature controls.

The building has increased ventilation rates and low toxic materials have been used for improved air quality.

US Green Building Council president, CEO and founding chair, Rick Fedrizzi, said: "Buildings are a prime example of how human systems integrate with natural systems.

"The PepsiCo project in Azov efficiently uses our natural resources and makes an immediate, positive impact on our planet, which will tremendously benefit future generations to come."

Other PepsiCo buildings with LEED certification worldwide include its Chongqing plant and office in China and the PepsiCo Plaza and Sustainability Center in Chicago.
