The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, is planning massive campaign through Indian Embassies in the foreign countries to attract investment of US$ 20 billion in the food processing industries in the country.

According to Ministry official, the Government is now under the process of preparing a plan for the campaign which will soon to be published through Indian Embassies.

The official also said that due to India’s diverse agro-climatic conditions, had a considerable surplus of plethora of agricultural produce. As we lack adequate processing infrastructure and facilities, a huge quantity of perishables get wasted along the supply chain. Best processing technologies available abroad are required to be brought in. India is a treasure of raw materials. It can be used as a processing hub and tap the benefit of a growing market by the developed economies like France, Germany, US and Australia.
