Water savings at Frito-Lay San Antonio Plant

December 23, 2007
The cooperative water conservation effort by the San Antonio Water System and the city's business community is a true success story.

Frito-Lay is an excellent example. Through its partnership with SAWS, the company's San Antonio plant has reduced its water consumption by 50 percent.

The firm once used 2 gallons of water to produce a pound of chips, and now it uses less than a gallon per pound.

The reduced water flow has saved money for Frito-Lay, and since 2001 the company's effort has saved 2.6 billion gallons of water.
