Potato growers in the US finished digging

Potato growers across the United States appear to have finished digging the 2010 crop, but a few potatoes remain in the ground on Canada's Prince Edward Island. Harvest should wind down there by this weekend.

Now, the industry awaits crop estimates by USDA (on November 9) and Statistics Canada (on November 19). Reduced production appears to be inevitable, in both countries, but the reports will be the first official indication of their magnitude.
