After lobbying by Idaho's congressional delegation, the potato was included from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's nutrition programs, including the Women, Infants and Children, or WIC, program.
That's after the agency had published an interim rule that excluded white potatoes - Idaho's signature crop - from the program.
