The market price of potatoes in Gansu recently showed a rising trend. Relevant data shows that the price of potatoes in Gansu increased by 16.67% in comparison with the same time last year.

The price of other products for which potatoes are the main ingredient also increased as a result of this development. The price of potato starch increased from 6,700 yuan [994.80 USD] per ton in February to 7,300 yuan [1,083.89 USD] per ton in April. That is a price increase of 600 yuan [89.09 USD] per ton.

Potato production areas in Gansu suffered from frost and excessive rainfall last year. This reduced the overall production volume and severely limited this year's supply volume.

At the same time, temperatures are rising, which is the beginning of peak season for the industries where potatoes are a main ingredient. These two situations strengthen each other and lead to an explosive price increase.

The average supply volume from major production areas in Dingxi, Baiyin, and Longnan, Gansu, is currently in decline.
