McDonald’s today announced that it will open restaurants in Kazakhstan in 2015, in conjunction with a local developmental licensee, Kairat Boranbayev. Kazakhstan is McDonald’s 120th global market and the 39th market that will be managed as a part of McDonald’s Europe.
“Kazakhstan offers much development and growth potential, and our agreement with Kairat will enable us to continue to build our Brand,” said Doug Goare, President of McDonald’s Europe. “We’re committed to driving our business by growing same store sales, opening new restaurants in existing markets and looking at opportunities to enter new markets with development potential.”
The first McDonald’s restaurant in Kazakhstan is expected to open during the second half of 2015. It will be a destination for customers looking for a welcoming, great value experience with conveniences like free Wi-Fi, cutting-edge design and with a menu including iconic favorites such as the Big Mac, Chicken McNuggets and French fries.
McDonald’s President and CEO Don Thompson said, “McDonald’s is committed to driving impactful change and business growth. We look forward to opening in Kazakhstan, adding new jobs to the economy, bringing the McDonald's experience of quality food and great service to new customers.”
Boranbayev is an accomplished Kazakh businessman with extensive experience and a proven track record of running successful business ventures in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The developmental license is the result of a robust selection process that began a number of years ago.
“I have great respect for the McDonald’s brand, which is one of the most recognisable worldwide and I am proud to be bringing this brand to my home country. We look forward to starting work for our first restaurant opening next year,” said Boranbayev.
