Anuga Food Tech 2012
Odenberg shows sorters, peeling systems and more at Anuga Foodtec
Food sorting, peeling and process analytics system manufacturer ODENBERG will exhibit its industry leading systems at the Anuga FoodTec 2012.
These comprise the company’s most advanced optical sorter, called halo;a new small piece sorter, iris II;its ground breaking in-line fat analyser, the qvision 500;and ODENBERG’s orbit steam peeler.
ODENBERG will demonstrate the systems in the Cologne Exhibition Centre on March 27-30, where it will occupy stand A54 in Hall 10.1.
Optical sorters
This combination is mounted above and below the system’s conveyor belt, enabling ODENBERG halo to achieve unsurpassed levels of accuracy, thanks to its ability to deliver true 1mm resolution. The entire system is controlled by an intuitive touch screen, to enable ease and flexibility of use.
Sean Slevin, ODENBERG marketing and business development manager, said: “Demand for ODENBERG halo has been extraordinary, but justified, because, in every case where it has been specified and installed, it has delivered increased capacity, reduced line cost and lower error rates.”
For small piece items, slided or diced products, ODENBERG is introducing the iris II range of sorters. Using high resolution front and back cameras, NIR, CCD and LED technologies with air ejection, the iris II will enable producers to achieve high confidence in quality and safety sorts.
ODENBERG halo’s applications include fresh and processed products of all varieties and sizes. Sorting applications catered for by ODENBERG halo and iris II include potato, citrus, peaches, pears, dried fruits, cucumbers, tomatoes and berries - all of which benefit from the systems’ gentle product handling ability.
ODENBERG's new qvision 500 analyser
The ODENBERG qvision 500 analyser, with unique transflection technology, sets a new standard for in-line analysis. Currently focused on the meat and protein sector, it measures fat, moisture and protein in parallel with outstanding accuracy. The quality of measurement is driven by penetration far into the food product, a measuring width of 500mm and automatic reference calibration.
Geir Stang Hauge, ODENBERG process analytics director, said great effort had been made to design the ODENBERG qvision 500 analyser to meet the food industry’s demanding requirements.
He said: “The result is a machine that can be trusted in all respects, with durability and simplicity being key features of its design. Benefits of the ODENBERG qvision 500 analyser include its fast payback, low operating cost, inclusion of batch reports, recipe integration, preparedness for process control and ease of integration into IT systems.”
Orbit steam peeler range
ODENBERG peels approximately 65 per cent of all French fries produced in the world and the company’s industry-leading range of peeling solutions will also be presented.
The ODENBERG orbit steam peeler range of sizes has been increased to ensure higher efficiency for a wide range of applications. Sizes ranging from 1,000kg to 50,000kg per hour are now available.
A 50,000kg per hour orbit steam peeler was recently installed at a one of the largest European French fry processors, achieving a two per cent peel loss improvement above a competitor’s product.
Automatic control of the steam peeler is achieved using the ODENBERG peel scanner². The peel scanner constantly monitors the quality of the peeled produce and automatically adjusts peeler and peel separation parameters to achieve the desired quality specification.
The ODENBERG peel scanner² has recently been developed to include length and width data trend information, as well as continuous streaming of images directly from the peeling line. A new application, dimension analysis of unpeeled potatoes, is currently in use at a major European processor.
Founded in 1968, ODENBERG is a global market leader in the fresh and processed food sector. The company designs and supplies highly advanced optical sorters and graders, peeling systems and process analytics systems and chilling/freezing solutions.
Six of the world´s top 10 global food companies are ODENBERG customers. The company’s systems are also used in the production of about 65 percent of all French fries worldwide. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, ODENBERG also has offices in Slovakia, Italy, France, the Netherlands and the United States.
