The United States Potato Board (USPB) International Marketing program provided Lamb-Weston distributors in Mexico a full day of training as part of their annual conference.
The training included an in-depth look at the world market for frozen potato products, including details on US and world supply, demand and trade. Also delivered was a presentation of the new “Why Buy US?” frozen potato products messaging and a detailed discussion by a Mexican nutritionist of the role of potatoes and frozen fries in a healthy diet.
All three presentations were very well received and will help the Lamb-Weston representative’s office personnel and distributors to better market and sell US frozen potatoes in Mexico.
Since the removal of retaliatory tariff on US frozen potato products, US exports have rebounded back to previous levels, with 179,182 metric tons, valued at $161 million in 2011. Exports for the first quarter of 2012 are up another 20%.
