McCain Foods Great Britain Selects Eco-Tec For Biogas Purification

January 16, 2008
Eco-Tec is proud to announce that it has recently been awarded the contract for biogas purification by McCain Foods (GB) Ltd., England. As a socially responsible company and a highly trusted brand, McCain Foods practices sustainable agriculture and is implementing energy efficiency projects at its processing plants around the world to help in the global quest to improve the climate.

"Eco-Tec has assisted industries with sustainable practices for over 37 years, and we are proud to be a part of McCain Foods' continued strategy for energy efficiency,"stated Carmine Fontana, Eco-Tec VP Business Development.

As part of its energy efficiency projects, McCain Foods in Great Britain implemented a waste process that includes the capture of biogas from anaerobic digester lagoons, and purifying the gas to produce electricity. McCain Foods hired Black &Veatch to conduct an evaluation of available technology and manage the integration into the planned process.

Compared to competing technologies, Eco-Tec's patented biogas purification system, BgPur, was designed to accommodate McCain's specific requirements regarding flow rate variations, changes in pressure, and the system's overall flexibility. With simple operation and lower operating costs, Eco-Tec's biogas purification technology was selected.

Eco-Tec was recently awarded the Canadian Innovation Award for Environmental Technology, by the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters association, for this biogas technology.
