This season’s combined Fight Against Blight (FAB) and Blightwatch service has revealed unprecedented disease levels, says to the British Potato Council (BPC).
There have been 301 outbreaks reported and confirmed as positive – more than twice the service has ever recorded before. Double the average of Full Smith Periods (FSP) were recorded, while in many areas near-continuous FSPs were recorded through the middle of June. East Anglia and Lincolnshire, which were some of the hardest hit areas for FSPs.
