Bankrupt salesman gives up fight with Walkers

September 27, 2007
A snack salesman who made a living supplying pubs across Cambridgeshire says that he has been bankrupted by big business.

Colin Freeman ran Packets wholesale from Breckenwood Road, Fulbourn, for 13 years, selling snacks to pubs, bars, sandwich shops and delis.

Last year the News reported Mr Freeman's bid to stop Walkers Crisps undercutting him, by selling their products direct to businesses in the county, when he travelled to the company's HQ to protest.

He said he could not match Walkers' prices, or the freebies and incentives they could offer, and said the snack giant, which took over a fleet of supply vans in Cambridgeshire four years ago, was driving him under.

A year on, Mr Freeman's fears have been realised, and he has been declared bankrupt.
