While most of the United states is more focused on sweet potato recipes - as sweet potatoes are a tradional Thanksgiving dish - Industry is focused on their trading standards. Sweet potato is a tropical plant which, despite its name, is not related to potatoes.

Since 2017, regional sweet potatoes have been growing and thriving on the Lower Rhine potato farm Pottbäcker in Germany

Five years ago, Mts. Koenraadt-Heerink started growing sweet potatoes on a trial basis in the Netherlands. Over the years, the acreage has grown from less than one to 20.5 hectares. Still, yoelds must improve to make it profitable.
