Caledonian Pearl is a new variety of second early with a waxy flesh which makes an excellent salad potato. It produces large yields of uniform, yellow-skinned tubers with shallow eyes. The skin of the tubers ‘sets’ quickly so that it can be harvested early.

Caledonian Pearl is a new, high yielding variety that are hardy and easy to grow. Yellow-skinned tubers that set quickly so that they can be harvested early and a waxy flesh that makes them perfect salad potatoes.

With a delicious flavour, Caledonian Pearl can also be used for steaming and boiling and is very versatile; it can be grown in smaller outdoor spaces.  Height and spread: 60cm (24").

Tuber Characteristics

  • Shape: Oval to round

Resistances

  • Late Blight (Phytophthora infestans): Moderate resistance, making it less prone to this common disease. 
  • Common Scab (Streptomyces scabies): Good resistance, reducing the occurrence of scab lesions. 
  • Virus Resistance: Shows resistance to some potato viruses, which helps maintain plant health and yield. 
  • Nematodes: Some resistance to potato cyst nematodes, which helps protect roots and maintain yield.
