Stefan Ranstrand, President and CEO of TOMRA (Odenberg, BEST) spoke at this year’s TEDxOslo conference about the Resource Revolution, and how we need to take action to solve the challenges ahead.
Under the thematic umbrella of “Corporate Rebels,” 13 speakers shed light on rebellion from different angles and perspectives. We heard the jazz musician who turned to opera when he got tired of the anarchic ways of free jazz, the priest with dreadlocks, the brain scientist and the anthropologist who introduced programmers at Microsoft to real people. And we heard Stefan Ranstrand, sharing the TOMRA story and the quest to lead the resource revolution.
About Stefan Ranstrand's presentation
With the ever increasing exploitation of the world’s resources as background, Stefan Ranstrand told the TEDx audience about his own personal motivation to try and make a difference. He continued by explaining how TOMRA’s solutions for optimal resource productivity can contribute to maximizing yield and reduce energy consumption in the mining industry, amongst several other examples.
The speech was concluded by urging everybody to take action: "The international political processes set to fix our dire global problems – be they climate challenge, energy, recycling, water, feeding the population etc. — are not leading anywhere quickly enough,"said Ranstrand. "We know there are challenges. We have the solutions. We have the money and resources to invest in them. What we need is the will and courage to not only engage in corporate responsibility programs and reporting, but to act as responsible corporations and take action to create responsible business solutions for tomorrow."
