USPB implements stricter use of 'Potatoes...Goodness Unearthed®' nutritional signature
Agosto 23, 2011
The United States Potato Board (USPB) Executive Committee has issued the steps they are taking to implement new procedures that have been approved by the USPB Administrative Committee and Domestic Marketing Committee to set a new direction for our nutrition campaign.

The USPB will revise the Potatoes...Goodness Unearthed® nutritional signature (PGUNS) guidelines to create a new set of regulations that will ensure PGUNS is used in an approved manner as a nutritional message and clearly prohibit its use as the dominant image on any potato bags or cartons.

The USPB has contacted all the shippers and package manufacturers that own and/or produce the bags which have utilized PGUNS in a dominant manner and instructed them to immediately discontinue production of any and all bags that include PGUNS.

The USPB is working with these shippers to establish an approved phase out period to use up the PGUNS bags that remain in their current inventory and they have agreed to comply with these requirements. The USPB will review and approve new PGUNS bag and carton designs that comply with the terms of the revised PGUNS regulations when they are finalized.
