A major export success for Herberts' includes the latest design pre-washing system for vegetables. Now, a second unit has also been sold to another potato grower/packer in New York, US.
The wet reception hopper has been designed to assist growers who handle heavily soiled potatoes and therefore need more aggressive cleaning of potatoes.
This latest solution takes the best elements of previous soak tanks and is a three in one system to 'receive, pre soak and remove waste'.
The wet reception hopper system offers more than its counterparts with additional features and functionality. It gives an initial gentle reception of crop into water and then provides a cleaning/soaking action prior to delivery to the rest to the processing line.
During the journey through the system, sludge, stones and floating debris are all removed and delivered to one side of the hopper. Its auger base and drag chain combination removes sludge / debris from the base of the tank.
An immediate benefit of this system is the removal of floating debris before traditional barrel washing, thus avoiding potential costly damage and unnecessary breakdowns.
The end result of this wet reception hopper is a "clean"waste free vegetable stream. It is not designed to replace the final washing process but essentially improve the overall process and efficiency of cleaning. Its multi-functionality makes this unit unique.
The Wet reception hopper has a potential capacity of up to 50tph.
The wet reception hopper destined for New York State is currently being manufactured and will be cleaning customers potatoes for processing by September 2011.
These orders have been secured by Herberts' Canadian Distributor, HJV, following a detailed analysis and discussion of the customers needs.
