Frito Lay launched lower-sodium versions of some of their popular salty snacks. Lay's and Ruffles potato chips, Tostitos tortilla chips and Fritos corn chips now have 30%-50% less sodium. Regular Lay's classic chips have 180 milligrams of sodium per ounce while the lower sodium version has 75 milligrams per ounce.
The verdict of Freep.com: We didn't miss the salt at all in the Ruffles we tried. They have the same crispness and flavor as the regular chips. Fritos fared well, too, but had a greasy aftertaste. There is less sodium, but these still have the same amount of fat at about 10 grams per ounce.
