Ukrainian farmers haven’t been able to avoid a drop in potato prices, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Experts note that while potato prices in Ukraine remained relatively stable for two weeks, many producers are now forced to lower their prices this week.

This year in Ukraine the demand for seed potatoes is higher than in previous years, there is a significant shortage of quality seeds, EastFruit reports .

As of October 2024, 12 new potato varieties were added to the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine during 2024. Four of these varieties are of French selection, four are German, and four are Dutch.

According to EastFruit’s analysts, citing market participants, last year’s potatoes in the Ukrainian market have experienced a notable price surge over the weekend.

Agrico's project 'Rebuilding Potato Ukraine' is funded by the Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF), a program from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency commissioned by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
