ASTERIX

Potato Variety Information

Variety Name: AsterixRights Holder | Breeder: ROPTA-ZPCCountry of Origin: Netherlands 荷兰Year of of introduction: 1991

Variety Description

Red skin variety with fairly yellow flesh color and very high yield potential. It produces oblong, uniform-shaped tubers with shallow eyes and medium smooth skin. The number of tubers per plant is rather high.

Foliage

Medium late maturing. Asterix has a quick foliage development and a good groundcover. Grow Asterix under irrigation to optimize yield and tuber shape, a sufficient water supply during the last growing weeks is very important to get the best size and shape. Asterix has moderate-high and strong foliage, therefore vine killing will be needed.

Diseases

Resistant to Golden Nematodes and immune to Wart disease. Moderate resistance to Common Scab. Although Asterix has reasonable resistance to late blight, regular preventive treatments are necessary

Quality

Nice taste, fairly firm culinary quality. Rather high specific gravity can be used in most potato preparations; excellent for homemade French fries.
