在安纳托利亚的部分地区，当地的马铃薯品种依然被称为ruskartoe，以纪念十九世纪这种块茎被从俄罗斯高加索地区引进。自1872年以来，马铃薯的种植在土耳其一直得到官方的鼓励，该国现在是中东地区继伊朗之后的最大生产国，2007年的产量接近420万吨。
作为仅次于番茄的园艺作物，马铃薯在该国的种植面积估计为15.8万公顷。夏季炎热干燥、冬季寒冷的安纳托利亚中部高原是主产区，而爱琴海和地中海沿岸则是集约化生产的地区。2007年每公顷产量高达27吨。
