The World Potato Congress functions to promote sharing of information on all aspects of the potato industry.
Delegates represent industry sectors in both developed countries and countries with developing potato industries. Over 50% of the world’s potatoes are produced in developing countries, with the volume increasing, as new technology and practices are adopted in those countries.
The Beijing Badaling (Great Wall) International Conference and Exhibition Centre will be the main venue, with delegates participating in a variety of seminars, presentations by industry leaders, and scientific dialogues. Delegates will also have opportunities to visit local growing and producing facilities.
Numerous pre and post Congress tours will offer delegates unique opportunities for exposure to the Beijing Region as well as numerous other exotic locations such as Hangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Yangshou and Lijiang.

The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) will hold the China Potato Expo 2015 jointly with the 9th Beijing World Potato Congress.
China Potato Expo 2015 will be an in-door exhibition of about 10.000m2.
The exhibition space will be divided into three sections:
- Research and Development part for research and education institution or potato related companies working in the area of development new potato varieties and other related innovation related to potatoes;
- comprehensive area for all companies or organizations working in all elements of potato sector;
- machine and equipment area for all machine and equipment manufactures for both potato production and processing.
