Early April the Danish Minister of Trade and Development Mogens Jensen visited potato starch manufacturer KMC and the AKK-factory in Karup. The Minister was escorted by a small delegation including i.a. his special adviser and his secretary.
The Minister and his staff were quite aware of the different export challenges for KMC and therefore ready to discuss offensive as well as defensive interests in the ongoing free trade negotiations in general - and in the vital TTIP-negotiations between EU and US in particular.
KMC's overall export challenges in countries like Thailand, Japan and Korea were debated as well as the latest development in the Chinese trade policy.
The Minister also had time for a short guided tour at the AKK factory lead by Director Vagn Nielsen to give a better understanding of the challenges in producing and exporting potato starch in the free market.
