Oregon’s Nels Iverson Elected to NPC’s Executive Committee

At the National Potato Council’s (NPC) 2013 Annual Meeting, held January 11-12, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nels Iverson of Jefferson, Ore., was elected to serve as NPC’s vice president of the council’s Finance and Office Procedures Committee.

Iverson is a partner of Iverson Family Farms, a diversified farming and agri-tourism operation located in Woodburn, Ore. The farm grows potatoes for chipping as well as wheat, green beans, sweet corn, grass seed, tulips, and daffodils. His brother, Ken, sister, Barb, and nephew, Jon are all involved in the family operation, as are his parents, Ross and Dorothy.

Iverson’s involvement with NPC began 25 years ago as an Oregon representative to the council. Since then, he has held positions on the Board of Directors and the Scholarship Committee. He is also a past president of Willamette Valley Potato Growers Association, a past chairman of the Oregon Potato Commission, and the current chairman of International Marketing Committee of the Oregon Potato Commission.

Iverson and his wife Patti have six children, Christina, Jennifer, Mark, Eric, Kevin, and Carl;and two granddaughters, Dakota and Maci.

Oregon’s Tony Amstad (Amstad Farms, Hermiston/Sherwood), Lon Baley (Baley Trotman Farms, Malin), and Dan Walchli (Walchli Farms, Hermiston) were elected to serve on NPC’s Board of Directors.

NPC’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors are comprised of U.S. potato growers nominated by their state organizations and elected by their peers.
