New British Chips: Corkers Crisps

New British Chips: Corkers Crisps
二月 01, 2011

It’s not every day a new crisp company is born. You tend to think that the market has long ago been sewn up by the likes of Walkers and Kettles, but, make way for Corkers.

Travel up to Little Downham and a bit beyond and you come to Willow Farm at Pymoor Common.

At the far end of the farmyard are smart new offices and it is from here that Rod Garnham and Ross Taylor are launching Corkers Crisps, made with their very own potatoes grown in the fields surrounding them.

The Naturello is the potato Rod and Ross have chosen for Corkers.

Corkers, the name is meant to reflect a very British chip, a real corker, are thin cut, but not as thin as Walkers, yet thinner than other hand-cooked chips.

Willow Farm produces around three thousand tons of potatoes a year and an initial manufacturing plant for the crisps has been set up, with plans for a £400k purpose-built facility in the next few months.
