Farmers in Western Australia's main potato growing region say they are worried next autumn's crop will fail without more winter rain.
Growers in the south-west say they need a lot more water in their dams to ensure it lasts the summer.
Manjimup grower Bob Pessotto says this season's harvest delivered average growth.
However, he says that will not be the case next season if it is another dry winter.
"If you have a look at the last 30 years of records, the last record of a dry season was in 1978 I think off the top of my head or '76 but last year was the driest season on record,"he said.
