UK Potato growers to pay higher levy rate

Defra has approved the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB)'s proposed levy rates for growers for the next financial year - from 1 April 2010 until 31 March 2011.
Potato growers will see an increase of £1.17 - from £39.00 to £40.17 per hectare.
Potatoes buyers will see an increase of £0.0051 - from £0.17 to £0.1751 per tonne.
The increase is to maintain the Potato Council service delivery needed by potato growers and their industry customers to meet the challenges ahead.
