No progress made with lifting Mexican frozen potato tariff

六月 15, 2010
After 15 months, there’s been no change in lifting a retaliatory tariff placed on U.S. frozen potato imports.
During that time, U.S. potato shipments to Mexico declined by 50 percent, according to the Washington State Potato Commission.
But Canadian shipments increased by more than 60 percent.
The Mexican government started the tariffs in response to the U.S. Congress stopping a cross-boarder trucking program with Mexico.
Congress’s decision was deemed illegal under NAFTA, according to the potato commission.
