Better Made Potato Chips is planning to move its growing $17 million private label potato stick manufacturing business to a new facility. At its current location in Detroit the company is landlocked. General Manager Mike Schena said growing in Detroit doesn't appear feasible.
Better Made Potato Chips officials initially were considering sites in Greenville's industrial park near United Solar Ovonic and in Montcalm Township near the former Ore-Ida potato processing facility.
Schena said the company still is "in our infancy"working on the project and is shopping around for the best financial and incentive package, including tax rates, utility rates and shipping costs.
"We have to see where we get the best economic package,"Schena said. He still prefers Greenville, but Greenville is "not a lock. We have to go where we will get the best deal."
