School bans 11-year-old girl with wheat-allergy from eating low fat chips

四月 07, 2008
An 11-year-old girl with a wheat allergy has been banned from eating special low fat chips at school - because they are not healthy enough.

She was told by teachers she could not eat the lunchtime snack because they are not allowed under the school's tough healthy eating policy.

The mother branded the strict ban "unfair"because there are few wheat-free foods which can be taken to school by kids for lunch and nothing to suit a wheat-free diet in the canteen.
