Las Pringles ni siquiera son patatas

Las Pringles no son patatas, según el Tribunal Supremo británico. El popular aperitivo de inconfundibles rodajas ovaladas perfectamente encajadas en un envase de tubo tienen menos del 50 por ciento de patata y «una forma artificial». Esta decisión judicial supone que el producto no estará sujeto al impuesto de 17,5 por ciento de IVA que grava sobre las marcas que sí utilizan el tubérculo en su composición. La ley del IVA obliga, desde 1994 a aplicar este impuesto al producto que sea fabricado con patata «prácticamente en su totalidad». Sin embargo Pringles sólo contiene un 42 por ciento de tubérculo, por lo que queda exenta del impuesto.
